What Godspeed Mission Control does
What a day with Godspeed Mission Control looks like, what it never does without you, and what it is made of.
Godspeed Mission Control is your own AI assistant. It knows you, keeps your notes and works on your goals, and most of that work happens while you are doing something else.
A day with it
#Say your goal is to run a 10 km race in June.
- At night it reads up on your goal: who coaches it well, who got there from a start like yours, and races whose sign-up closes soon. It only reads and takes notes.
- In the morning it picks up to three pieces of work for the day. Most it does itself. If one needs you, it says so, and never gives you more than one a day.
- During the day it does the work, such as a training plan with dates or an answer with its sources, and keeps it ready for you.
- When something is due, it reminds you that morning: your timesheet, a contract to cancel by March.
- On Sundays it opens a short check-in about your goal.
In between, it keeps what you ask it to: "track belly 92 cm", a habit, a note, a headache. How the daily work runs has the times and the details.
What it never does without you
#- It never spends your money unless you asked for it or said yes: buying, booking, subscribing, cancelling.
- Before anything goes out in your name, it shows you the whole text and waits for a clear yes.
- It does not delete your notes or files beyond what you asked for.
- It does not make up facts about your life. If it does not know, it says so.
What it does alone, and what it asks first has the whole list.
What it is made of
#- Your folder. Everything it knows about you, in ordinary files on your computer or your server. Any AI app that works in this folder talks to you as Godspeed.
- The notebook. Its own web app, where your notes and what it learns about you go. It is made entirely of Markdown files in your folder.
- Your AI account. The thinking comes from an AI service you choose and pay for, such as ChatGPT.
- Hermes. The free program that runs your assistant, by Nous Research. It comes with every installation.
- Skills. Step-by-step instructions for one job each, such as keeping a tracker. It picks the right one for what you ask.
What it is not
#- Not tied to one app. Its notebook, Claude Code, Codex, the Hermes app and Telegram all reach the same assistant (Use it in VS Code, Claude or Codex).
- Not locked in. Your notebook is Markdown files, so Obsidian or any text editor opens it, with or without Godspeed.
- Not a chatbot. You can talk to it, but its job is the work it does while you are away.
- Not a cloud service. It runs on your computer, or on a server you rent, and your folder stays there. When it thinks, it sends your AI service only what the task needs.

If you want help deciding what to hand it, Michael Zelbel, who made it, wrote a book about that: Teach It Once.
