# Get a morning brief

Canonical: https://godspeedmissioncontrol.com/guide/morning-brief

The morning brief is off until you ask for it. Then it gathers your goals, steps and dates into one message each morning.

## Switch it on

1. Say in the chat:

   ```text
   Switch on my morning brief
   ```

   It makes a routine called **Morning brief** at 07:00 on your clock, or at the time you name. It tells you when the next one comes and how to pause it.

   Or in **Settings**, **Privacy, suggestions and notifications**, tick **Morning brief**, choose the time and click **Save notifications**.
2. To see one right away, say "today's brief".

On a server installed with the one-line command, the brief comes in Telegram. Everywhere else, it is a note in the notebook's **From your routines** folder.

## What is in it

The body stays under 200 words, and a part with nothing in it is left out:

1. **The one thing that needs you today**, with the list of steps waiting for your yes.
2. **What changed** since the last brief.
3. **Useful work it prepared**, such as a short draft, in full to copy.

Below the body, when there is something to say:

- **Going out at ... unless you say stop**: steps of a kind you allowed. Reply "stop", or "stop 2" for one line ([Approve, stop or allow a step](/guide/steps)).
- **Done yesterday without asking**: steps that went ahead alone. Ask for one to be put back if you want.
- **Deadlines and targets**: the [dates](/guide/deadlines) that need a mention today.
- **What your watches found**: the newest finding of your page watches and up to two new ones of your research watches ([Watches](/guide/watches)).
- One line on your next period, if you [track it](/guide/track-period) and asked for that.

With the brief on, the morning line from the [daily round](/guide/daily-work), the steps going out and your deadline reminders come only in the brief. Without it, the daily round's 05:30 message lists the steps going out.

While Godspeed still knows almost nothing about you, the brief says so and asks one question you can answer in a sentence.

## Change it, or pause it

- **Read it again:** say "my brief" or "the brief again".
- **Change what goes in:** tell the assistant. It rewrites the brief's skill, the written instructions the brief follows.
- **Pause it:** say "Pause the morning brief", or click **Pause** on its row under **Settings**, **Routines**.
