# How it remembers

Canonical: https://godspeedmissioncontrol.com/guide/memory

Godspeed keeps everything it learns as plain files in your mission control folder, not inside one AI app. So every AI app you open in that folder shares one memory, and you can read every word of it.

## Four kinds of memory, kept apart

- **What you told it**: your notebook (notes, people, facts, moments) and the pages about you on Godspeed's brain.
- **How it should behave**: its rules and your extra instructions.
- **What it worked out about you**: its own conclusions, one file each in `observations/`. They never become facts on their own.
- **What it is unsure about**: one file per open question in `inbox/`, instead of a guess. It asks you about one when it matters.

Only what someone said or did becomes a fact. Godspeed does not read all of this every time: it searches when a question needs it, before it answers about your life and before it asks you something.

## Facts keep their history

A fact is something true about you or someone else, such as where someone lives, saved with your exact words. Some facts have one value at a time. A new value closes the old one, which stays as history.

For example, you tell Godspeed that your friend Anna lives in Hamburg. Months later you say she moved to Berlin on 1 October. Her page now shows "lives in: Berlin" with **History (1)**. The Hamburg fact is not lost: it moved to `notebook/Facts/Earlier/`.

## Its own findings wait for your yes

A few minutes after you write a note, your AI reads it and suggests the facts, moments and people it found. These wait in the **Review Queue** until you press **Keep**. Its own conclusions that would belong on a page wait there too.

A suggestion waits only while its note still holds it. Move the note to the trash, or take out the sentence the suggestion came from, and it leaves the Review Queue; restore the note and it is back. What you kept stays.

Some add-ons write one note per thing they handle, such as one per scanned letter with its summary already in it. Your AI does not read those notes again. You still find them in search, and Godspeed finds them when you ask about a letter.

What you tell Godspeed directly is saved at once, because you said it. And a value you typed into the notebook yourself is never overwritten: Godspeed's new value waits in the Review Queue instead.

## Why it works this way

- **You stay the authority.** A guess never turns into a fact about you or your people without you.
- **Nothing is lost by accident.** Old values and the earlier versions of every page are kept.
- **You can check it.** Every fact is a file you can open, and you can correct or undo what it saved.
